This Flemish crime saga brings an adrenaline rush with its fast narrative but one that towers over everything is the fact that it is also a satisfying finale. The appearance of ‘Undercover’ is more like a realistic series with ample twists and turns. The locations are very much in tune with the happenings of the series and act like one of the characters. But one thing that’s bound to catch your attention in the series is its beautiful European locations. Murat Seven is menacing in his role and does evoke an element of chill. Tom Waes as Bob and Frank Lammers as Ferry share a natural camaraderie and both have aced their roles. The trajectory would be similar to ‘The Witchers’ which was recognised for its magnificence only in its second season. It’s one of those series that failed to get its due recognition earlier but with season three, things are guaranteed. It makes a tense viewing and never for once gives the feeling that this has been watched before. ![]() ![]() While the previous seasons of ‘Undercover’ were riveting, to say the least, the current season takes it to a different level. ![]() He reviews each case and follows a vetting process when it comes to inducting people as part of his group. He manages the cartel more like the boss of a company than a dreaded gangster. The portrayal of Serkan is also a novelty on part of the makers of the series. In this season, more time is devoted to individual characters and shows their capability and vulnerability in tackling situations. The hitch is that he must work with Bob Lemmens (Tom Waes), the very cop who busted him. Equal footage has been devoted to Serkan too and thus the balance between the good and the evil, which is so important in a cop drama, is well maintained. Undercover Season 3, on Netflix, is a Belgian/Dutch series about a convicted drug kingpin, Ferry Bouman (Frank Lammers), who is sprung from jail to go undercover and bring down his rival, a Turkish gang led by Serkan Bulut (Murat Seven). The chemistry that Bob and Ferry share is crackling and this alone makes the series a great watch. At face value, these things might seem unbelievable but the proceedings are so accurately written and neatly woven in the plot that nothing seems out of the place. This series introduces to viewers the power of Serkan, a new drug lord, and the circumstances under which Ferry and Bob team up together to tackle another villain. In other words, this series emphasizes more on the human behaviour of the characters and for this precise reason, it becomes a different watch. The duality between the good and the bad takes a backseat here. REVIEW: The beauty of ‘Undercover’ lies in the fact that as opposed to other cop crime-dramas, which are dime a dozen on various platforms, this series focuses on individual traits of characters. In the third season, one gets to see an unlikely partnership between Ferry and Bob to tackle a new drug kingpin.
